About

Hello, we are Divya and Misty, and welcome to our website Desi Daawat.

Desi Daawat has been formed with a lot of love and care, and it includes our best recipes. We are both home cooks, and food lovers with a passion for fresh ingredients and various spices.

Our cooking is mostly fuss free and it has lots of recipes for those busy moms who juggle a career with a home life. If you plan on hosting a themed party, look at our various cuisines for the easiest and tastiest food recipes. There is nothing we love more than a big family food filled event.

We also include recipes for kids, that are extremely easy and will help you out when you have to do the early morning run with your kids.

We both hail from India, and currently call Singapore home.

So we hope you have a good time trying out our recipes, because we certainly love bringing them to you!

Divya Bakshi

What Divya puts on the table is always simple, fresh and natural. Cooking is something almost second nature to Divya who grew up in and started cooking when she was a little older than 7. Standing beside her mother, she learned the ways of daily, easy cooking with fresh and local produce.

With marriage, Divya lived in China, and now calls Singapore home. The unique food culture in both countries gave her numerous opportunities to experiment with recipes that are particular to the region as well as incorporating specific techniques into her Indian cooking.

These experiments created recipes that are well-suited to the International palette, perhaps a more familiar catch phrase “Fusion” will ring a bell.

Divya has been married to Sandeep for over 18 years, and they have two children, Karan (17) and Kareena (8).

Divya has her own catering business in Singapore, in addition to organising cooking classes at her home and in cooking schools. If you are in Singapore, and would like to know more about her services, you can drop her an email at dbakhshi@yahoo.com.

Misty Plaha

Contrary to Divya, Misty started cooking when she was in her late twenties. She has always had a very demanding banking career which left her with little time for anything else.

And after she had her baby, and quit her job to take care of him, she started cooking a lot at home, using her moms recipes.

She loves to travel to different countries and experimenting with local cuisines and then trying those at home.

Misty has been married to Abhishek for 8 years and they have a son Neil(3).

Misty runs another website along with her sister Amrit, which focuses on clean eating and healthy living. You can check out her website at http://www.asprinkleofspice.com
