
Ingredients (to make the bread)
¾ cup milk, warm
1½ tbsp lemon juice
¼ cup sugar
2 tbsp dry yeast
2¼ flour (extra to dust the pan)
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
a pinch of salt
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 tbsp butter (extra to brush on the pan)
Ingredients (to make the caramel sauce)
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon powder
226 gms butter, at room temperature
½ cup heavy cream
Ingredients (for the glaze)
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp water
Method
This is a list of ingredients for the bread.

Heat the milk so that it is just lukewarm.

To that, add the lemon juice.

Mix and set aside for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, add the sugar.

And mix it in.

Then, add the yeast.

Give it a mix, cover and let it rest in a warm place for about 10 minutes.

This is how the yeast mixture will look like after 10 minutes.

To a bowl, add the flour.

Then, add the baking powder.

Next, add the baking soda.

Finally, add the salt.

Mix everything together.

To the flour, add the yeast mixture.

Add the vegetable oil.

And finally, add the melted butter.

Knead the dough for for about 10-15 minutes, till the dough comes together.

This is how it looks like after kneading.

Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for at least half an hour.

This is how the dough looks like once it has risen.


Turn it out onto a surface.

Make small balls out of the dough.

Grease and flour your pan. I am using a small bundt pan to make the money bread.

Divide the balls evenly between the 2 liners and set aside.

This is the list of ingredients for the caramel sauce and the sugar glaze.

To a pan, add the brown sugar.

Next, add the butter.

Add a pinch of salt.

Finally, add the cinnamon and heat this on a low flame till the sugar dissolves almost fully.

Take it off the heat, and then add the cream.

Mix everything so that you get a thick caramel sauce.

Pour this sauce on the monkey bread.

Bake in a pre heated oven at 180 degrees celcius for 18-20 mins, or till the bread has been baked.

Mix the icing sugar and water to make a thick glaze.


Remove one monkey bread and put it on a plate.

Put the sugar glaze on top.

Serve fresh.


This bread stays in an airtight container for 3-4 days, and for a week when refrigerated.
