Ajwaini Fish Tikka

Fish fillets marinated with Indian spices and cooked to perfection

Ingredients

For The Marination

  • 1 big fish fillet (about 200 gms)
  • 1½ tsp ginger and garlic paste
  • salt, to taste
  • ½ tsp carom seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp red food colour
  • ½ egg, beaten
  • 3 tbsp chickpea flour
  • 3 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tsp malt vinegar

To Cook

  • oil, to shallow fry

To Serve

  • a handful of coriander, chopped
  • a drizzle of greek yogurt
  • lemon wedges

Method

Step 1: To Marinate The Fish

(1) To the bowl add the fish fillets.

(2) Add the ginger garlic paste, salt, carom seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, red food colour, egg, chickpea flour, all purpose flour, rice flour and malt vinegar. 

(3) Give it a good mix and marinate it for about an hour.

Step2: To Cook The Fish

(4) Layer the fish pieces onto the pan, and cook the fish on both sides till it has been cooked completely and you see a little char on each side.

Step3: To Serve

(5) Transfer the fish pieces onto a serving plate.

(6) Serve hot with a sprinkle of chopped coriander, greek yogurt and lemon wedges.

Next, add the salt.

Then, add the carom seeds.

Next, add the coriander powder.

Next, add the red food colour.

Next, add half a beaten egg.

Add the chickpea flour.

Then, add the all purpose flour.

Next, add the rice flour.

Finally, add the malt vinegar.

Give it a good mix and marinate it for about an hour.

To a pan, add oil.

Layer the fish pieces onto the pan.

Cook the fish on both sides till it has been cooked completely and you see a little char on each side.
