Chicken Shami Kebab

Ingredients

1 tbsp oil (extra to deep fry)

250 gms chicken, minced

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp garlic

salt, to taste

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp chaat masala

1 tsp corn flour

red food colour and pepper (optional)

½ cup chana dal

1 red chili, deseeded and chopped fine (you can also use green chili paste)

1 tbsp lemon juice

½ cup chickpea flour (besan)

1 egg (optional)

a big bunch of coriander, chopped

Method

This is a list of ingredients.

To a pan, add the oil.

Then, add the chicken.

Next, add the ginger.

Then, add the garlic.

Mix it in and add the masalas.

Cook the chicken and then add the chana dal.

Add the red chilies.

Finally, add the lemon juice, mix it in and take it off the heat.

Transfer this mixture to a blender.

Blend to a smooth paste and transfer it to a bowl.

This is what you need to make the patties.

To the chicken, add the chickpea flour.

Then, add the coriander.

Mix it in and make a patty. If the patty does not bind, crack open an egg, beat it in another bowl, and add it to the mixture 1 tbsp at a time, till you are able to make a patty. (I was able to make the pattiess without the egg and hence, i did not use it.)

Deep fry the patties.

I fried 2 patties the first time to make sure that they do not break, and then fried the remaining.

Serve hot.
