Margherita Pizza – Thin Crust

Pizza made with fresh tomato sauce, cheese and mixed herbs

Ingredients

To Make The Tomato Sauce

To Make The Pizza Crust

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (extra to flour the tray) 
  • salt, to taste
  • 3 tbsp baking powder
  • 150-200 ml water
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs (oregano, basil, rosemary)
  • 1 tbsp oil

To Assemble The Pizza

  • ½ cup cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • basil leaves, to garnish 
  • mixed herbs (oregano, basil, rosemary), to garnish

Method

Step1: To Make The Tomato Sauce

(1) Make the Tomato Sauce according to the instructions in this link. 

Step2: To Make The Pizza Crust

(2) To a clean bowl add the flour, salt, baking powder and mixed herbs.

(3) Make a well in the middle, and add the water and make a dough. Add the olive oil.

(4) Knead the dough for at least 15-20 minutes till you get smooth texture. Cover it with a clean kitchen cloth and let it rest for at least an hour.

Step3: To Assemble The Pizza

(5) Add flour on to a baking tray. Split the dough into 4 pieces. Take one piece and roll the dough into a circle and gently lift it and put it on the baking tray. Bake it for 10 minutes.

(6) Next, add the tomato sauce on to the dough. Spread it evenly. Sprinkle the parmesan and cheddar cheese on top.

(7) Bake in a pre-heated oven for 15-20 minutes. Cut into the desired pieces. Top with basil leaves and mixed herbs on top. Serve hot.
